今回は、SVJENのネットワーキングパーティーに参加してきました。SVJENとは、Silicon Valley Japanese Entrepreneur’s Networkの略で、シリコンバレーで起業する日本人を支援することを目的としたネットワークです。以前にも参加したことがありますが、今回の場所はマウンテンビューのカストロ通りにある、「Fu Lam Mum Chinese Seafood Restaurant」というわりと高級な中 華料理レストランで行われました。マウンテンビューにはGoogleキャンパス（本社）や、NASAのエイムズ研究セン ター、近くには、Apple、Yahoo!などもあり、まさにシリコンバレーのど真ん中です。この辺に住んでいる（特に、男性）プロフェッショナルの人のほとんどが、エンジニア、ディベロッパー、ウェブデザイナーであったり、起業家（アントレプレナー）であったり、なにかとハイテク・ITに絡んだ職業の 人が多いです。

最近ランチタイムのイベントが熱い。
どんなに忙しい人、偉い人でもランチは食べるので、その時間を利用してみんなで集まろうというのがLunch 2.0イベントの趣旨です。

簡単に説明すると、このイベントの開催場所はベンチャー企業のオフィス。その企業がランチも提供し、主催者がFacebook等にてイベントの告知を行う。参加者は昼休みを利用して無料でランチを食べれるうえに、他の会社のオフィスも見学する事が出来る。場所とランチを提供する企業は集まったオーディエンスの前で自分の会社やサービス、人材募集等に関してのプレゼンが出来るので、PR効果は抜群。

といった、かなり画期的でみんなが喜ぶイベントプログラムです。

さて、今回は僕のオフィスの近くにあるXobniという会社にてイベントがありました。この会社はeメールクライアントソフトに組み込み型のソーシャルメディア管理ツールを提供しています。

ちなみにオフィスの場所が、なんと以前にTwitterが入居していた場所でした。建物も部屋も全く一緒。

以前にTwitter Co-founderのBiz Stoneにインタビューをしたその時のまま、同じテーブルと椅子がありました。
ちなみにオフィスの場所は自分の会社から徒歩5分の距離なので、かなり便利でした。

当日はかなりの量のピザとソフトドリンク、そしてお菓子が提供され、大盛り上がりでした。
しばらくのネットワーキングタイムの後に、Xobniのスタッフから提供サービスに対してのプレゼンと求人に関する告知が行われ、そのは再びフリータイム。

面白かったのが、このイベント、昼休みを利用して行っているので、13時頃になると波がひくようにお開きとなりました。

なかなか面白いコンセプトなので、日本でも是非行って頂きたいと思います。
ちなみに同イベントの次回開催場所は、AOL西海岸本部です。
